Rules & Regulations

1. When entering the bridal path off of the B2026 road, speed restrictions of 5 mph must be applied.

2. Parking must be on the left hand side of the road / bridal path leading up to the entrance of the castle
as close to the large oak tree, not on the other side of the oak tree.

3. Cars or vans should be kept to a minimum as far down as the telegraph pole, once this is full you must
unload your equipment and then park up at the rear car park within the castle grounds,

( please see Peter at the castle for designated spaces ).

4. Please respect all persons and property once entering the grounds and surrounding areas.

5. Entry to the lake is strictly through the white gate before the entrance to the castle grounds, once
entering the white gate this must be closed after you at all times.

6. Once entering the grounds of the lake please do not obstruct the railway, always take care and be
aware of the trains when in operation, do not touch the trains or walk on the tracks at any time.

7. Fishing is on the bottom lake only; the top lake is out of bounds for fishing.

8. Fishing is permitted from 3 banks only, do not enter the swims to the left of the bottom lake, when
coming through the white gate please go to the right when selecting your swim.

9. The lake varies in depths from 2 feet to 10 feet, the shallow part of the lake is on the left hand side and
the deeper parts are to the dam wall end.

10. No wading or swimming in the lake at any time.

11. Please ensure that you leave adequate space between other anglers when setting up and fishing.

12. No more than 2 rods to be used at any one time.

13. You must hold a current environment agency fishing licence.

14. Membership cards with a current photo to be carried and shown at all times, day tickets to be
shown when asked by any other member, bailiff or the lake owner.

15. Fishing for Full members is unlimited, fishing for members is dawn to dusk, day tickets are from dawn
to dusk, night fishing is from dusk to dawn, and conditions apply.

16. Children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult at all times, night fishing for under 16 should
be discussed with the lake owner and it will be his decision to agree.

17. Un hooking mats should be used at all times, no mat no fishing.

18. No keep nets unless authorised, no carp sacks.

19. All fish to be returned back to the lake after caught.

20. Landing nets should be used at all times.

21. All mats, nets and weighing slings should be cleaned and dipped before using.

22. Barbless hooks to be used at all times.

23. No radios.

24. No fires.

25. No particle baits unless sweet corn as a hook bait.

26. All rubbish to be taken away from site.

27. No guns or riffles.

28. Please respect the wild life and habitation.

29. No bivvies or tents unless night fishing.

30. Do not touch or play with the lifebuoy that is situated at the dam wall end, this is for emergencies
only, then please be at help to assist.

31. Return fish back in to the water as safely as possible.

32. No bait boats

33. Do not use or touch the work party boat situated at the lake, this is for staff only or work parties.

34. Toilets in the castle are for castle users only, if you require the toilet you may ask the castle owners
permission for usage, please respect the toilets, do not have dirty boots and clothing when entering
the castle.

35. If you decide to book a breakfast in the castle please respect others and keep noise down to a
minimum as this is a highly respected venue.

36. This lake is for fishing only; no other water activities or sports should take place during your visit.

37. Please take note and adhere to all displayed signage around the lake and castle.

out for your own safety and to ensure that you have a wonderful time whilst fishing or visiting our fishery.

As you can see we have a zero tolerance policy, but we do offer you the chance to be safe and sound
and the opportunity to fish a highly prestigious lake with one of the finest surroundings and settings in
east Sussex.

We accept no responsibility for loss or damage to people’s property or life whilst at Silver Birch Fisheries.

Anyone found breaking the rules will be banned for life with no exceptions.

Theft of fish or property from the lake or surrounding areas within the castle or lake grounds will be
prosecuted.

We accept no responsibility for anglers not holding or not in possession of a current rod and line licence.
